  • EDSA, Inc.
  • Fort Lauderdale, FL

Job Description

EDSA is seeking a talented Urban Planner / Architect to join our team of landscape architects, planners, and urban designers. This role is ideal for a design professional with a strong architectural foundation and experience in urban planning, master planning, or urban design who enjoys shaping complex development opportunities into thoughtful, buildable places.

Working on multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, resort, and large-scale master planning projects throughout Florida and beyond, you'll help shape projects from early visioning through entitlement by developing planning strategies, building frameworks, massing concepts, and urban design solutions that balance creativity, functionality, and development objectives.

If you're passionate about creating places that successfully integrate architecture, landscape, planning, and development strategy, EDSA offers the opportunity to collaborate with industry-leading designers on projects around the world.

What You'll Do

  • Lead the planning and urban design of multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, resort, and master planning projects.
  • Develop innovative master plans, site layouts, circulation strategies, and development concepts.
  • Develop building frameworks, massing studies, and spatial planning strategies that integrate architectural design with urban planning and placemaking principles.
  • Apply architectural thinking to shape cohesive, buildable environments that support the overall vision for each project.
  • Perform land use, density, feasibility, and entitlement analyses.
  • Apply Florida planning, zoning, and land development regulations throughout the design process.
  • Present planning and design concepts to clients, municipalities, and review boards.
  • Collaborate closely with landscape architects, architects, engineers, and multidisciplinary design teams.
  • Guide projects from concept through entitlement while maintaining the integrity of the original design vision.
  • Mentor junior planners and designers while contributing to EDSA's collaborative design culture.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Urban Design, Urban Planning, Landscape Architecture or a related field.
  • 5–6 years of professional experience in architecture, urban design, master planning, or a related design discipline.
  • Experience with multifamily, mixed-use, hospitality, resort, or large-scale master planning projects.
  • Demonstrated experience working directly with private developers, institutional owners, or public-private development teams.
  • Understanding of the real estate development process from acquisition through entitlement, design, permitting, construction, and project delivery.
  • Experience evaluating development feasibility, land use efficiency, density, circulation, parking, open space, and project phasing.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with developers, investors, architects, engineers, attorneys, and municipal agencies.
  • Familiarity with Florida planning, zoning, and land development regulations.
  • Excellent graphics, presentation, visualization, and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines while contributing architectural thinking throughout the planning and design process.

Preferred

  • Architectural licensure or progress toward licensure.
  • AICP certification is a plus.
  • Experience with entitlement processes.
  • Experience presenting design concepts to clients, municipalities, or public agencies.

What You'll Find Here

  • Design-driven projects around the world.
  • Opportunities to work on transformational mixed-use, hospitality, resort, and urban development projects.
  • Collaboration with landscape architects, architects, planners, and urban designers.
  • Professional development and mentoring.
  • Competitive compensation and benefits.
  • A culture that values creativity, innovation, and design excellence.
